Hi Pollie, Most dry tooling routes are single pitches where there is no serious consequences of dropping your axe mid-way up the route (as long as your belayer is wearing a helmet) so leashes aren't really necessary. If this is the type of climbing you are doing, then we would recommend loosing the leashes, its a lot less faff and a lot more fun to climb without them! Hope that helps, Dave

Hi Tony, The upper grip rest is not adjustable. We think that the radical curve of the Apex makes it more comparable to a Petzl nomic than a quark and because of this, there is less need for an adjustable upper handle. Hope that helps, Dave
