In the final episode of “The Classic Alpinist”, Ueli Steck struggles with the decision of whether or not to continue his project, following the tragic death of his friend and fellow alpinist Martijn Seuren. Accompanied by his good friend and mountain photographer Jonathan Griffith, Ueli decides to get back on track along one of the most beautiful routes of the 82 Summits Project in the Italian Mont Blanc Massif. He still has the entire Grandes Jorasses ridge to climb before he can move toward Gran Paradiso and the final 82nd summit of the project, Barre des Ecrins. How long will the challenge take in the end, and from where and how does Ueli find the spirit to finish his project? EpicTV and Goal Zero present "The Classic Alpinist”, a special 4-part series. Join Ueli and the team as they battle their way through the ups and downs of a brand new take on a classic alpine challenge.
Accepting Risk, Reward & Danger In Ueli's 82 Summits Challenge, Part 4 | Presented By Goal Zero
EpicTV and Goal Zero is proud to announce the release of its brand new series, “The Classic Alpinist" featuring world renowned athlete Ueli Steck.
A four-part series, The Classic Alpinist chronicles the highs and lows of Ueli’s mission to summit all 4,000 metre peaks throughout the Alps in just 80 days during the summer of 2015. This incredible feat was made all the more difficult as Steck decided to undergo the entire challenge under manpower alone. No cars, planes nor trains – just Ueli, his bike, and his mountaineering gear on the ultimate endurance challenge in the Alps.
Throughout his project, Ueli is accompanied by his friend and long-time collaborator, Daniel Mader, and unsurprisingly, a journey of this magnitude happens to attract some of Europe’s best alpine-climbing talent along the way.
Ueli’s climbing career has spanned more than 20 years and in that time he has established himself as one of the the most renowned and respected athletes of his generation, earning the nickname ‘The Swiss Machine’. In an age of fast and light alpinism, Ueli Steck has driven the sport to new heights with his revolutionary ascents all over the world.
Join Ueli and the team as they battle their way through the ups and downs of a brand new take on a classic alpine challenge.
