It's rare for things to come together perfectly in the challenging mountains of Patagonia, but for climbers Matteo Della Bordella, Luca Schiera, and Silvan Schupbach they absolutely did. Not only did they repeat the classic climb 'Chiaro di Luna,' but the ideal weather conditions and strength of the team meant that they were able to add a direct variation to the line. Topping out Saint-Exupery by any route would rank as a fantastic achievement, but to do so with such pioneering spirit and alpine efficiency makes this a truly exemplary ascent.
Pioneering A New Line On An Iconic Patagonian Peak | Hielo y Fuego, Ep. 2
Welcome to a new web series about the latest Ragni di Lecco expedition in Patagonia. It features the Italian alpinists Luca Schiera and Matteo della Bordella along with the Swiss climber, Silvan Schüpbach as they attempt the Californiana Sit Start, a new Patagonian route on the Aguja St. Exupery. Like all the classic 'Ragni Routes' on Fitz Roy, this one is a doozy.
