The well known German ice climber Ines Papert has succesfully made the first ascent of Likhu Chuli 1, a 6719m peak in the Khumbu area of Nepal. Ines had been climbing with Thomas Senf but he stayed at High Camp due to concerns about frostbite and she summitted alone.
The pair had been planning to climb a new route on the N face of Tengkangboche, in the Thame Valley, but bad conditons made them switch objectives. Due to bad weather conditions they had to traverse the north face to the north ridge. Here they pitched the tent again to get out of the cold wind, and Senf, who was developing frostbite, decided to stay in the tent while Papert went for the summit.
