On the show today:
Robert Jasper, the super strong German alpinist, has made yet another hard first ascent in Kandersteg, Switzerland, this time with Wolfram Liebrich. This time it is on the intimidating NE face of the Gallihorns (pronounced Gellihorns) Robert had been keeping an eye on conditions on the line for several seasons and back in mid December he finally succeeded, and called the route 'The Black Death'.
Robert has graded the route WI7, M8 and given it E5 on his own danger scale. It’s 250m long and he reckons that it is one of the toughest routes in the Kandersteg area, which must be saying something.
We have the first part of our exclusive interview with Leo Houlding. Leo is reputedly one of the world's best free climbers, and in this part of the interview he discusses how that all started with tackling best of the trad routes the British Isles have to offer.
