After a disappointing weekend here in Chamonix, where he failed to make the final after incorrectly clipping a quickdraw during the IFSC Lead World Cup, Adam Ondra seems to still be climbing OK and he has onsighted Stefano Ghisolfi’s 9a, TCT, at Gravere, Italy. Still not happy with his days work he then drove to Fournel, France, and came very close to onsighting a second 9a in the same day but pulled a hold off at the crux. Given that the first 9a onsight was a holy grail just a couple of years back, to have nearly done 2 in a day really is amazing, but possibly no more than we’ve come to expect from Adam. Just when you thought that Alex Megos might have been out of the news for a while, he’s only gone and climbed Chris Sharma’s legendary route “Biographie” in just a single day. The route is 9a+ and Alex did it on just his third go, making this one of the most incredible sport climbing achievements of recent times. Biographie is at Ceuse in France, widely considered to be the best sport climbing cliff in the World, and it was first climbed by Chris Sharma in 2001. It was the World’s first 9a+ and remains a true benchmark for aspiring top sport climbers.
