We’re starting today with news from an interesting expedition in Nepal that I’ve been keeping an eye on over the past few weeks. It’s called the Double 8 project and it will see 3 climbers attempt to summit 2 8000m peaks within just 7 days, without the use of supplementary oxygen. They’re starting with Shishapangma, which they plan to ski down after summiting, before cycling 160 kilometres to Cho Oyu, where they will then attempt an alpine style ascent. Their first attempt at Shishapangma was unsuccessful due to extremely deep snow but they should now be on the mountain again and hopefully heading for the top. - Team Blog - video of first summit bid We’re finishing the show today with yet another amazing video from Mammut, who could never be accused of not being ambitious with their films. This time they got a team together to climb the Matterhorn and line it with red lights, to create one of the most amazing spectacles you’re ever likely to see in the mountains – have a look at this.
