To start the week we’ve got a pretty weird story from right here in Chamonix. In March 1982, a 23 year old trainee mountain guide called Patrick Hyvert went to solo the Nant Blanc face on the Aiguille Verte and ski down the Couturier Couloir. However, the weather turned while he was on the mountain and he disappeared, never to be seen again, until las week that is, when the PGHM resuce service of Chamonix retrieved his body from the Talefre basin, more than 32 years after he went missing. His family have been given his ashes and they have decided to spread them on the Glacier where he was found.
Next, we head to Outdoor 2014 in Friedrichschafen where Olly is getting the lowdown on Edelrid’s latest crampons. These versatile spikes feature a binding system that allows them to be attached to virtually any boot.
