On today’s show we’re going alpine with Michi Wohlleben but first we're checking in with Ines Papert who's been on fantastic form of late. It was only a couple of weeks back that we were chatting to Ines Papert about her repeat of 'Ritter des Kokosnuss' in Kandersteg but she’s already back in the news, this time for repeating Dave MacLeod’s 'The Hurting', a grade 11 winter route in Scotland.
The line is a summer E4 on the famous crag of Coire an-t Sneachda and when Dave made the first winter ascent of the route, it became the country's hardest winter route. Since then it has seen repeated 4 times, although the prize of an onsight remains – Ines only got it on her second go.
Next we’re off to chat to Michi Wohlleben, who’s back in fine form following a paragliding accident at the end of last year. He and his partner, Joachim Feger, have made the first ascent of a 1300m, M6 route called “Optimist” on the Zugspitze – Germany’s highest mountain. They climbed ground up, in a single push and didn’t place a single bolt. We managed to pin down the ever enthusiastic Michi to get some details on how it went.
