On todays show we’ve got a report on the latest attempt on a classic American rock climbing challenge. It’s the Naked Edge speed record in Boulder Colorado and it sees climbers start at the bridge at South Boulder Creek, run a short distance to the foot of the route, climb 3 moderate pitches up to about 5.8, or French 5, and then 5 tougher pitches rated up to 5.11b (French 6c), most of which are quite poorly protected, and then scramble down slabs back to the bridge. For most climbers this would be a good day out on its own but not for Brad Gobright and Scott Bennett, who’ve just established a new record at a mind blowing 24 minutes, 57 seconds.
We grabbed a word with Scott and Brad to find out more.
