After visiting Korea and Japan over the last 2 weekends, the IFSC Lead World Cup rolled into Inzai, Japan on Saturday and Sunday, and after some surprising results over the past fortnight, something resembling normal service was resumed this time around. The biggest names all went through into the men’s final but were also joined by the surprise of the weekend – Magnus Midtboe of Norway who made only his second final of the year. Romain Desgranges was unable to continue his consistent run and placed seventh, whilst youngster Domen Skofic took third, Sachi Amma second and none other than Adam Ondra took the win. The leader in the overall standings, Jakob Schubert, came fourth and will now almost certainly be crowned champion at the final event of the season in Kranj, Slovenia in 3 weeks time. Over in the women’s competition, Jain Kim of Korea came out on top – her fourth World Cup win this year, which comes on top of her World Championship win in September. Slovenia’s Mina Markovic, who won the events in Korea and China earlier this month, was second and Maja Vidmar, also of Slovenia, came third to give her her first podium of the season. This all means that Jain is virtually guaranteed to retain the World Cup title that she won last year, but the race for second is still going to be fiercely contested, with Mina Markovic now just seven points behind Magdalena Rock. We’ll be bringing you all the results from Kranj in 3 weeks time so stay tuned. Adam Ondra Wins Penultimate Round Of IFSC Lead Champs In Inzai | EpicTV Climbing Daily, Ep. 373
