Annelie Pompe has made it to base camp on Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the Americas. Now begins the tedious process of acclimatization in which she ferries supplies to camp 1 (higher up the mountain) and waits for her body to become used to the ravages of altitude, including thinner air. Between her freediving and mountaineering, it seems Annelie is always dealing with some sort of atmospheric stress.
Luckily, all that breath holding has made her very conscious of her breathing - no small detail when you are trying to make sure your body gets enough oxygen. With two more camps to establish higher up the mountain she has a long way to go, and many more breaths to take, but things are starting to get real.
