When all you have is a rope tow, or 'Nutcracker' (by name and reputation) to get you up the mountain, then you've got to hike on top of that and ride down couloirs that are no wider than your board... you get yer sweat on! The NZ Cubbies are infamous around the world for their rope tows and are quickly gaining a reputation for pumping out serious big mountain freeriders. The FWQ Two Star Events highlight this raw talent and Colin will return to visit where he began his qualifying tour last year - good ol' Temple Basin. The Black Diamond Big Mountain Chill Series at Temple Basin is a 3 day FWQ event and our man Colin Boyd claims first place. The next few days are spent exploring what lays beyond the competition scene. While most riders move on to the next location, the true nature of this mountain really shows once the crowds thin. There's nothing like being the only crew in a ski resort and having a local freeride legend like Todd Windle guide the way. They manage to ride some pretty interesting terrain and it turns out to be the perfect training ground for Colin Boyd to practice for the Freeride World Tour.
