The Beal Escaper is a new and truly innovative way of abseiling on a single rope and still being able to retrieve the rope. Ever since we saw it at Outdoor we knew this was going to be an exciting product, so it's time to put it to the test. What do you think of it? Buy the Beal Escaper here. I echo the concern about a 60m drop for the carbiner. I can see it useful in mountaineering abseils, but would rather trail a smaller diameter second rope, to join if I needed a 60m abseil. But a very informative video.

I never used the escaper, but when you use a carabiner to hook the rope to it and you'll abseil 60m, you will put a 60m fall on your carabiner. That's doesn't seem quite sustainable for your gear or your health if anyone gets hit by it or it gets stuck in a tree or something.
