First, we’ve got news of a very on form Alex Megos and Markus Bock crushing it in the legendary hard sport climbing area of the Frankenjura in Germany. Alex has made the first ascent of 'Modified', which he’s graded 9a+ and this brings his tally of Frankenjura 9a or aboves this year to 7, and it’s still only June. ‘Modified' is a variation on his route ‘Classified', which he put up last year. Also in the Frankenjura, the Godfather of the area, Markus Bock has finally climbed his long standing project, grading it 9a+ and calling it ‘Becoming'. He bolted it in 2011 and reckons it could be his hardest route ever, which makes the mind boggle! To give you an idea, there are 23 routes of 9a or harder in the Franknejura and Markus has made the first ascent of 18 of them, many of which have never been repeated. Next, we’ve got a really fun video of Alex Honnold taking his soloing skills to the streets, or more specifically the buildings, of San Francisco. It’s well worth checking out the whole 5 minute video, which features a radio phone in where people put their questions to Alex and he does his best to explain soloing to the average person -- no easy task.
