Hi Calain, The first hurdle you have to cross is the Legal one. Quarrying companies usually have to remain owners of a quarry for a period of time after it has been abandoned to ensure people do not enter and injure themselves. If you can enter the quarry legally then the next thing you should be very weary about is the quality of the rock. Quarried rock is usually very loose. It can take tens of years after closure for the rock to be stable enough to climb on. Ironically, climbers can speed up this process by pulling off all the loose rocks but it is exceptionally dangerous. The question of safety is always a personal one. Take things slow, wear a helmet and don't be annoyed if you have to abandon your project to climb another day. Hope that helps, Dave
