Hi, anyone got any tips on the best Ice Axe's for Scottish Winter climbing? About to go on my first trip up north and wondered if anyone had any advice, have heard the ice isn't that great this year...any help would be much appreciated, thanks! :)

Hi Tony. For Scottish winter climbing, something like the Petzl Quark or Black Diamond Viper work well. Anything more technical usually won't come with a hammer or azde, and you'll want theses for cutting steps and smashing pro into frozen cracks. Closer to home, the DMM Apex is a great allrounder, or the slightly less technical DMM Fly Mountain is a great entry to mid level axe.
