In the ten years of the World Heli Challenge, this is the best location that we've ever had.' When you see the breathtaking mountains of the New Zealand Alps and they way they plunge into the deep-blue water of Lake Hawea, you won't doubt Tony Harrington's words for a minute.

After all, the WHC organizer should know what he's talking about. Year for year he has the world's craziest freestyle ski and snowboard athletes flown thousands of meters into the sky by helicopter so they can speed down wild slopes full of rugged cliffs and into the valley. It's a competition where the boundaries between adrenaline rush and madness blur.

Sam Smoothy and Janina Kuzma (ski) and Benny Bright and Abby Lockhart (snowboard) are this year's winners. That's three for New Zealand, and one for Australia. That's using your home advantage the cool way.
